The Sorbus torminalis is a medium-sized deciduous ornamental tree with clusters of cream flowers in spring/summer and small red-brown fruits in autumn.
Description
The Sorbus torminalis, also known as the Wild Service Tree, is a native deciduous tree to 25m, with broad, pinnately lobed leaves. The tree produces clusters of cream flowers in late spring/early summer and produces red-brown fruits in autumn, making this tree great for both wildlife and seasonal interest.
The Sorbus torminalis will grow higher than 12m/39ft tall and 8m/26ft wide (within 20-50 years), making this an excellent choice for medium to large-size gardens.
Planting Position
The Sorbus torminalis will thrive in most soils, although it prefers well-drained, moist, moderately fertile soil in full sun or partial shade positioning.
