Description

Louise Bonne of Jersey is a good quality pear that is reliable and attractive with its small-medium, yellowish-green fruit with a red flush. Once bitten into, the flesh is tinged pink-white, juicy and sweet that melts in the mouth, with a superb flavour. This pear is a good reliable cropper and moderately vigorous. It was originally first known as as Louise d'Avranches but renamed Louise Bonne of Jersey when it came to the UK via the island of Jersey. It was raised in Avranches, Normandy, France by M. Longueval in 1780 and received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2003.

Planting Position

Louise Bonne is a reliable cropper and can be grown in most situations as long as it gets shelter and full sun.

Attributes
The beautiful spring flowers have some resistance to late spring frost and are more attractive than most pear varieties.
