Description

Our hybrid poplar trees are one of the fastest-growing trees available in the UK, growing at an impressive rate of up to 2 meters per year. These vigorous fast-growing British trees make excellent high screens, windbreaks, and provide a natural solution for privacy trees. Their quick growth also makes them ideal for timber production.

Whether you need a quick growing tree for privacy or a fast growing tree for screening, these hybrid poplars are a great option. They grow to a mature height of 20-25 meters with a spread of 8-10 meters, making them perfect for large areas that need fast cover.

Our hybrid poplars have been produced here at Bowhayes Trees by natural plant breeding techniques. The result has led to the propagation of our own selection of very vigorous clones.

The hybrid poplar trees are low maintenance and can be coppiced like willows if required, regenerating when cut. They can also be pollarded.

Planting Position

These fast-growing British trees thrive in well-drained soil and are suitable for exposed or sheltered sites. Perfect for creating fast-growing privacy trees or screens in sunny or partially shaded areas. Like willow, the hybrid poplar will cope in fairly wet conditions.

Plant Spacing

We recommend planting these mature fast-growing trees around 3-4m apart to provide them with good space to grow. However, for a thicker screen, you can plant a double row if you have space. Allow approximately 1-2m between rows and stagger the plants across the rows.
