Description

Classed as one of the finest cooking apples in the world, and with good reason! This is a fantastic and well-loved apple that is easy to grow in most British gardens. It cooks down to a slightly acidic puree and can also be used in pies and tarts with great success. The fruit can also be pressed to mkae a delicious single-variety juice.

This apple can be susceptible to scab but is resistant to mildew, canker and late frosts. Overall, a fantastic choice for a cooking apple.

Planting Position

Best grown in full sun the Bramley's Seedling can cope with any aspect although does require some shelter. It grows best in loam, clay or sandy soils with a neutral pH. Despite the significant spread of this tree in maturity it will cope well with pruning which also aids fruit production and facilitates harvesting. It should however be noted that this type of pruning is a specialist area and advice should be sort prior to undertaking a significant crown reduction.
