Overview

Rubus idaeus 'Glen Ample'

One of the best and heaviest cropping mid-season varieties available.

Pick: July

Use: Eating & Cooking

Description
Developed at the Scottish Crop Research Institute in 1978, Glen Ample is mid season and one of the most prolific varieties of raspberries. This high yielding fruit ripens from the first week of July through to mid-August.  It produces heavy crops of large, conical, sweet and juicy bright berries, that have an exceptional flavour and can be eaten fresh or for culinary purposes.  Glen Ample received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society and is recommended to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other insects.

Planting Position
Perfect for planting in small areas of the garden or in patio containers.  Plant in a sheltered sContainer in a well-drained but moist, fertile soil that is preferably acidic, in full sun or light shade. If you prune reguarly, it will result in better quality and healthier plants. This is self-fertile and pollinated by insects.

Attributes
Amongst some of the great attributes of this raspberry, is the fact that the stems are spine-free, along with the sparce foliage, making this an incredibly easy raspberry to pick.
