Description
The fruit of the Doyenne du Comice pear tree is highly prized for its sweet, juicy flavour and tender, smooth texture. The pears are typically medium-sized, with a round shape and a slightly flattened base. They are ideal for eating fresh, but can also be used for baking or cooking. The tree itself is characterized by its attractive, oval-shaped leaves, which are a glossy dark green color and turn to vibrant shades of orange and red in the autumn. The tree produces fragrant white flowers in the spring, which are followed by small, greenish-yellow fruits that ripen to a golden yellow colour, often with a tinge of red, in the late summer or early autumn.
Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
