The Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’, commonly known as the Fuji Cherry, is a delightful addition to any garden, offering a burst of early spring blooms. This compact shrub is renowned for its zig-zag branches and profusion of white to pale pink flowers that deepen in color at the center, creating a stunning display against the awakening landscape.

 

Description
The ‘Kojo-no-mai’ is an upright, deciduous shrub that reaches an ultimate height and spread of 1.5–2.5 meters over 5–10 years, making it an excellent choice for small gardens or as a specimen plant. Its lance-shaped leaves turn from mid-green to glorious gold and yellow hues in autumn, providing year-round interest.

Spread: 1.5-2m

Soil Type: Most soil types, Well-drained

Position: Copes with exposed or sheltered positions.

Lighting: Full Sun, Partial Sun. For optimal flowering, position in full sun.

Hardiness: Hardy (Tailored for British gardens)

 

 

After Care & Pruning
The Kojo-no-mai flowering cherry is a relatively low-maintenance garden shrub. Post-flowering, a light annual prune will maintain the shape and health of your plant. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches to encourage robust new growth.
