Usually considered as a cooking plum, Czar is delicious when used in jams, desserts and cakes, however, if left to fully ripen it can be sweet enough to be eaten fresh.

Description  
This prolific producer is an excellent and reliable early fruiting culinary plum tree. The fruits are medium in size that are oblong-oval shaped with purple-blue bloomy skin and tender yellowish-green flesh. This Award-winning variety has unusually large clusters of beautiful white flowers in the spring that attract birds and butterflies into the garden where the fruit then arrives in early August.

 

Planting Position 

Czar plums are suitable for planting in any UK areas. They are tolerant of a variety of soils including locations with a heavy and acidic soil. It can be grown in partial shade on a North facing wall, however they thrive well in full sun. The Czar blossoms have some resistance to late frosts.

 

Attributes  

This compact, hardy tree is a popular choice, notably for its reliability and it's easy to grow. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, received in 1993.
