Planting Position
Currant bushes can be grown in the UK with relative ease. The first step is to choose a suitable location, ideally with partial shade and well-draining soil. Prepare the soil by adding compost or well-rotted manure to improve its fertility. Plant the currant bushes in early winter or early spring, and make sure to space them about 1.5m apart.
After Care
During the growing season, water the bushes regularly and mulch the soil to retain moisture. Prune the bushes in late winter or early spring to encourage new growth and remove any dead or diseased wood. With proper care and maintenance, currant bushes can provide a bountiful harvest of sweet and tangy fruits for many years.
