Overview
Cercis Chinensis 'Avondale' is an award-winning, upright, multi-branching ornamental tree providing spring interest to your garden.
Description
This small, low-maintenance tree displays dense clusters of pea-like, magenta flowers from March to April, attracting bees, birds and butterflies into your garden. The flowers are followed by large, heart-shaped, rich-green foliage that fades to yellow before the leaves fall in Autumn.
The Cercis Chinesis 'Avondale' is an excellent addition to any border and can often be seen in traditional gardens. The Redbud prefers full sun in moist but well-drained soil, and the ultimate height is 3.6 width with a 3.6m spread.
Planting & After Care
Ensure to plant in its final location whilst still young, as the Cercis canadensis resents being transplanted. During planting, add plenty of well-rotted compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
They require minimal pruning, and removing broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter is best.
Size
Will grow to 2.5m x 2m after 10 years.
