Cercis can Merlot® is a beautiful, upright, dense, vase-shaped ornamental tree providing multiple seasons of interest.
 
Description
This highly tolerant tree displays masses of pretty, pea-like, pink blossom for 2-3 weeks during spring, attracting bees and butterflies into your outside space. This small ornamental tree has large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves in wine-red.
 
Cercis can Merlot® will make an excellent addition to your outside space and is often seen in small, informal and traditional gardens. The Merlot grows well in most conditions but prefers full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. The ultimate height is 3.5m with a 4.5m spread.
 
After Care
The Cercis resents being transplanted, therefore plant in its final location whilst young. When planting, add plenty of well-rotted compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
They require minimal pruning, and removing any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter is best.
 
Size
Will grow to 3m x 3m after 10 years.
