Overview
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Liberty'
A late fruiting blueberry with a delightful flavour.
Pick: September
Use: Eating & Cooking
Description
Liberty is a new variety late fruiting blueberry, ripening in August and September. The fruits are medium sized, sky-blue with an outstanding flavour. They can be eaten fresh from the bush and are also perfect for freezing, which is handy due to Liberty producing consistently high yields. It has an upright habit therefore suitable for smaller gardens and container growing.
Planting Position
Blueberries generally like full sun or partial shade. The soil needs to be moist but well-drained and if container growing, use ericaceous compost. We recommend watering reguarly with rainwater as opposed to tap water. These plants require pruning in late February to early March after the first two years. Remember to cover your berries or they'll be lost to the birds!
