The Whitecurrant Blanka is a self-fertile, bushy shrub.

Description

This medium-sized Whitecurrant displays clusters of fragrant flowers followed by large, sweet, almost translucent ivory-coloured fruit, ripening in late summer; excellent for pies, jams and jellies. Fruits can be eated fresh or frozen for later use.

Planting Position

The Whitecurrant Blanka is a hardy addition, suitable for beds and borders and is often planted in cottage and informal gardens. This Whitecurrant will do well in sheltered areas in full sun to partial shade and in moist but well-drained. Don't forget to protect your fruits from hungry birds!

After Care

During winter, prune any side shoots on two-year-old stems down to just above two buds up from the stem, preparing them for the best crop in their third and final year.

Only prune new stems if they're sagging low towards the ground or weak or damaged.

Size

After 2-5 years, the shrub can reach a height of 1-1.5m with a 1-1.5m spread.
