Description
With its upright and oval habit, 'Brandywine' is a perfect tree for limited space, although quite a large tree, it would work well in a medium sized garden.  Introduced by the US National Arboretum, Washington DC in 1994, this reliable red Maple is combined with two of the best parents,  'October Glory' and 'Autumn Flame'.  The result being one of the most reliable autumn colour displays in the UK.   Foliage emerges as pale yellow, turning into green in the summer before bursting into an intense reddish-purple colour that lasts longer than most.  When leaves finally fall, red twigs are exposed providing winter interest, along with the clusters of tiny flowers that appear in Spring.

Planting Position
This beautiful Acer is generally happy in most soils. Whilst it will produce an excellent colour in full sun, a little shade and shelter will protect from leaf scortch.

Attributes
A very easy to grow tree that will provide year round interest for any medium to large garden.  It's growth habit enables it to be grown in limited space, growing up to around 7m x 4m at maturity. Its autumn colour is show-stopping, making this a very desirable tree.
