Description

The Salix irrorata is a small, ornamental shrub providing multiple seasons of interest. This blue-stem Willow displays grey catkins with red anthers in early spring, providing nectar and pollen for bees. 

 

The Salix irrorata is an attractive shrub with young purple shoots which bloom white in winter and early spring, revealing narrow, oblong leaves. 

 

This award-winning Willow is a great low-maintenance addition, suitable for wildlife and coastal gardens and can also be used for hedging and screens. 

 

Planting Position

The Salix irrorata will do well in full sun to partial shade and moist or wet soil. In 10-20 years, it can reach a height of 2.5m with a 4m spread. 

 

Aftercare

The Salix irrorata requires hard pruning in early spring and is recommended for those grown for their winter stem colour.
