The Redcurrant (Ribes) Junifer is an early-season, high-yielding, self-fertile, upright shrub.

Description

This small Redcurrant displays small, star-like, green-yellow flowers during spring, followed by tasty, medium-sized, shiny red fruits in summer that are great for eating, jams and syrups. The Junifer is a small fruit bush with coarse, small, green leaves from spring.

Planting Position

This Redcurrant is a low-maintenance addition, suitable for containers and is often planted in informal gardens. The Redcurrant Junifer will do well in sheltered areas, protected from frosts in full sun to partial shade and in moist but well-drained or well-drained soil. Protect your fruits from birds or you may lose your crop!

Aftercare

The Junifer requires little maintenance. Prune out entire stems down to their base after their third and final year during winter for a better crop.

Size

The Junifer can reach a height of 1.5m with a 1m spread.
