Ideal for creating a natural boundary, our Cherry Laurel thrives in the UK climate, providing year-round interest, low-maintenance allure, and a robust barrier against the elements.
Description
Cherry Laurel is a low-maintenance, ornamental hedging plant ideal for tricky areas. It is fast-growing and survives well in poor soils and complete shade. It is good for blocking out noise and as a wind buffer. It also stops weeds from growing underneath it as it inhibits the growth of seeds. It can also be used as game and wildlife cover.
The flowers attract bees and butterflies and the fruit are eaten by birds. However, be aware that the leaves and bark are poisonous, so avoid planting a laurel hedge next to livestock. Fast growing, laurel will put on between 30-60cm of growth a year.
