The Malus perpetu 'Evereste' is a small ornamental tree with an explosion of spring foliage, and decorative fruit that can be harvested for consumption.
Description
Crab apples make fabulous garden trees. They are small and extremely decorative and whether you choose to harvest the fruit or not they are an asset to any planting scheme. The leaves are simple and slightly lobed. They are green through the spring and summer and turn an attractive orange-yellow in the autumn, often sustaining into winter.
The flowers, the calling card of the crab apple, appear in profusion in the spring. They are red in bud and open into crisp, white blossoms. The fruit of this cultivar are a pleasing red in colour.
Reaching between 4-7m in maturity the crab apple is suitable for any planting situation and can of course be pruned to encourage fruiting spurs.
Planting Position
This hardy tree will tolerate any aspect, and all soil types and pH making it extremely versatile.
Attributes
In addition to its visually pleasing qualities the flowers of the Crab apple attract bees and other insects. Birds, bees and wasps often feed on the fruit making this a great choice for encouraging wildlife into your garden.

Whilst smaller trees are often cheaper, easier to handle and more forgiving in terms of their level of care required, a more mature tree can provide a fantastic instant impact if you are able to care for it over the first few years.
- Standard or Feathered?
Standard trees - have a clear stem up to a minimum of 1.8m and a well-formed head of branches.
Feathered trees - Usually has an upright central leader and side brancehs that emerge down the main stem.
- Which Girth Size Should I Choose?
Our most common sizes we offer are relatively easy to ship and plant. The measurement is the circumference of the trunk at 1m above the roots.
6-8cm girth - 2.50m to 2.75m in height
8-10cm girth - 2.75m to 3.00m in height
