Description
This beautiful variety of Himalayan Birch from the grounds of Trinity College Botanical Garden, Dublin, was originally received as seed sent by Hooker from Kew around 1883.  The best feature of  this tree is the sparkling  white bark from an early age and its contrasting green leaves with serrated edges that last well into the autumn before turning a buttery yellow before falling.  This birch has an upright habit and graceful branches. It is also one of the more compact varieties making it a stunning focal point for any smaller space.

Planting Position
Like most birch it is fairly cosmopolitan in its soil preferences and soil pH but does prefer moist and well drained soil. Trinity College can be planted in full sun and partial shade.

Attributes
A deciduous eye-catching birch that has striking bright white upright stems from a young age.  Its green wavy-edge green leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow with yellow-brown catkins in early spring time.
