Description
Scrumptious is a wonderful early English dessert apple with rosy red peel and white crisp flesh. The sunnier the position the sweeter the apples becomes but without being sugary, this is due to its various background flavours. Scrumptious is also one of the most reliable early varieties, and the apples can be picked over a period of a couple of weeks rather than all at once.
Planting Position
Plant this tree in moderately fertile, moist, free-draining soil, preferably in full sun, although partial shade can be tolerated. It favours clay, loamy or sandy soils with a neutral pH.
Attributes
Scrumptious is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner to produce a good crop of fruit. The blossom is frost hardy making it particularly suited to cooler parts of the UK with a good resistance to many of the common diseases. This is a high-quality early-season apple which is easy to grow and very productive.
