Description
Amelanchier laevis 'Snow Flakes', also known as Smooth Serviceberry, is a stunning, small tree or large bush of ascending habit. Large, hanging, single white flowers appear in April as a lovely contrast to the emerging hairless, copper foliage. Followed by edible blackish fruits which arrive just before the rich bronze-red autumn leaf colours. Makes the perfect feature tree, even in small gardens.
Planting Position
Amelanchier 'Snowflakes' will thrive in moist, well-drained, lime-free soil. For the best autumn colour, plant in a full sun position or partial shade.
Attributes
A great choice for the smaller garden with it's upright habit, however as this is a suckering plant, it could also be planted as a shrub and used for hedges and screening or for banks and slopes. It thrives well along river banks and ponds.
