Description
Also known as Serviceberry, Juneberry and Snowy Mespilus, the Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill' will not disappoint. The most significant benefit of this small, tough tree is that it will provide interest throughout the year. Spring offers profuse white flowers covering the Amelanchier from head to toe. The foliage emerges as a bronze colour which turns to a bright green by late summer, along with a light crop of berries enjoyed by the birds. Once autumn arrives, the leaves phase to a rich red colour. A wonderful specimen.
Planting Position
Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill' grows best in full sun or partial shade, but if you're looking for the richest autumn foliage colour, they need to be grown in full sunlight. Preferably plant in well-drained, lime-free soil; although it can thrive in most soil types, it does not like wet feet!
Attributes
This beautiful specimen is ideal for multi-season interest for those with restricted space, giving a nice height with limited spread - approx 8m x 5m at maturity. Perfect for the lawn or a mixed border. It can be pruned after flowering.
