Sorbus aria 'Lutescens' is a medium-sized native, ornamental specimen with downy leaves, emerging as yellow and maturing to grey-green.

Description
The Whitebeam is a beautiful native specimen. Its upright branches spread with age and it makes an attractive and uniform, medium sized tree. The simple leaves of the ‘Lutescens’ emerge as a pale yellow, before greening up, and retain the pubescent (hairy) underside that make them appear white. In the autumn the leaves turn a golden brown before falling. The flowers develop in terminal clusters (at the shoot tip). They are approximately 1.5cm in size and give way to bunches of orange-red berries that were historically eaten by humans once they had begun to rot and as such become a little more palatable. This tree can be expected to reach 15m at maturity and has a fairly dense canopy.
