Also known as the Common Oak, this magnificent iconic tree is easily identifiable and one of our best loved English trees.
Description
Native to the UK, the Common Oak is one of our best loved trees. Its leaves being the most recognisable, with 4-5 deep, smooth edged lobes on either side with two smaller ones where it joins the stalk. In mid spring catkins adorn the branches followed by the second most iconic feature, the acorns. Thought to be a slow grower, our native oak can grow reasonably quickly on good soils.follow
Planting Position
Best grown on deep, moist, fertile loamy soils for an optimal large tree. However the English oak will grown in almost any conditions. The results can be a much slower growth rate and stunted looking tree.. think of Wistman's Woods in Dartmoor
Attributes
One of the most iconic trees in the UK, suitable for any large garden. The English Oak is also a valuable source of food and habitat insects, birds and bats.

Whilst smaller trees are often cheaper, easier to handle and more forgiving in terms of their level of care required, a more mature tree can provide a fantastic instant impact if you are able to care for it over the first few years.

Easy to order, fast delivery once my tree had been selected. Very safely packaged although my friend thought it was a willow! It was a beautiful oak tree perfect as a memorial for two lost friends. We are very pleased we selected Bowhayes for a quality tree (and because I live at Beau Hayes!).
