Description The Yellow Pershore was discovered in the Vale of Evesham in Worcestershire during the early 19th Century. They were used on a large commercial scale for jam and canning industries around Eversham. This traditional culinary plum produces heavy and reliable crops of medium sized, oval fruit in mid-August. It has yellow bloomy skin with firm, yellow flesh. If left to ripen, these plums can be eaten from fresh from the tree, but they are predominately used for cooking, and best picked just before they are fully yellow. The spring blossoms are white followed by dark green leaves. Yellow Pershore is also known as 'Yellow Egg Plum'
Planting Position This hardy tree has very good disease resistance and is suitable for planting throughout all areas of the UK. This tree will need full sunlight and soil that drains well, and that is fertile. Amend the soil if necessary to ensure it will drain and is rich enough. Pershore is self-pollinating therefore it does not require another plum nearby to set fruit, but consider planting another variety for fresh eating and a greater yield on both trees.
