Description
This elegant and attractive Birch tree has graceful arched branches in maturity. As the national tree of Sweden, this birch took its name from the Swedish province of Dalarna where it was first discovered in 1967.  Its bright green destinctive leaves look like they've been cut out with sissors giving them a feather-like appearance, turning yellow in autumn.  The peeling papery white bark becomes more prolific as the tree matures and provides winter interest.

Despite being successful on most well-drained soils, if planted in chalk soils this birch will not reach a maximum size. It prefers to be planted in a full sun position.
