• Attractive rounded form

• Pretty variegated foliage

• Awarded RHS Award of Garden Merit

• Size after 10 years : 6m x 4m

Description
Receiving an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1956, this popular cultivar of the Norway maple is graced with the most beautiful and unusual variegation of the leaves, which have a characteristic white margin highlighting the classic pale-green colour.  Before the leaves appear in the spring, the ornamental tree has discreet yellow flowers. The variegated leaves are most vivid in the spring before putting on an impressive show of orange leaves in the autumn.

Planting Position
Acer platanoides Drummondii can be planted in a wide range of well-drained soils.  They are best suited in a sheltered area with sun and partial shade so the leaves can be protected from scorch.  They are tolerant of air pollution and drought.  This fast growing tree is very easy to grow with a final height of 6 metres after 10 years.  Note that the occasional branch can turn back to plain green leaves and should be pruned out.

Attributes
This handsome, round-headed tree is arguably the best variegated Norway maple available with superb seasonal interest adding colour and brightness to any planting scheme.
